Bronze is an alloy of Cu with other metals and elements, such as tin, aluminum, silicon, beryllium, lead, manganese, etc.
First of all, Br can be divided by the method of production: foundry (ingots, castings) and rolled.
The decryption of the marking is simple: Br is the designation, followed by the capital letters of the metal names (O for Sn, A for aluminum, Z for iron, M for manganese, and F for phosphorus), which are indicated by the numbers. The percentage of these metals is indicated by the numbers (for example, BrAZhNMts9-4-4-1 contains 81-82% Cu, 4% iron and nickel, and 1% manganese).
However, if it is a cast alloy, the marking is slightly different. Br is the designation, followed by the letter of the alloying element, followed by the percentage content, followed by the next element and number. For example, BrO10F1 means that it is a cast alloy containing 10% Sn and 1% phosphorus. Sometimes, the letter L (cast) is added at the end.
The chemical composition is determined by two standards:
STATE STANDARD 493-79 Interstate Standard. Lead-free Cast Br .
And
STATE STANDARD 5017-2006 Interstate Standard. Br Marka tin, processed under pressure
The most common brands :
Bronze rods BrAZH9-4
BrAZh9-4 is the most common grade. It is characterized by very high mechanical properties, satisfactory sliding and corrosion properties. It is used to make fittings designed for use in various environments at temperatures up to 250 degrees Celsius, as well as parts that are subject to abrasion. Due to its 9% aluminum content, it is approximately 10% lighter in length and diameter than tin-plated Br.
BrOCC5-5-5 or OCC5-5-5 (BrOCC5-5-5 is a tin-based bronze with good sliding properties, suitable for making low-load rings). Until recently, it was the cheapest. In addition, this BrOCC5-5-5 is the best choice for machining on lathes and milling machines. Due to the 5% lead content in the chemical composition of this BrOCC5-5-5, the shavings do not roll off during machining, but instead break into small particles.
BrAZhMts10-3-1.5 It is characterized by high strength, good corrosion resistance, and is easily processed by hot pressing. It is used to make sliding parts, parts with high static loads, and parts that operate in a H2SO4 environment. This Br is often used to make bushings, nuts, and pipes. Its hardness is higher than that of BRAl9-4.
Bronze pipes of the BrAZhMts10-3-1.5 and BrOCS5-5-5 grades.
BRAZHN10-4-4 Four percent nickel makes this Br heat-resistant. The result is a high-strength, refined alloy with satisfactory anti-corrosion and sliding properties, as well as increased heat resistance. We produce parts for the oil, chemical, and food industries. These parts can withstand temperatures up to 510 degrees Celsius and can withstand high-pressure and high-temperature abrasion. Additionally, heat treatment can increase the hardness of this Br .
BrAMc9-2, the so-called shipbuilding Br, is an analogue of BRAZh9-4, in which 2% manganese is added instead of 4%, which significantly improves the anti-corrosion properties. Parts that operate in liquid fuel, steam, and fresh water at temperatures up to 250 degrees Celsius, as well as parts for shipbuilding. This Br is easily processed by cold and hot pressing.
BrKMz3-1. This Br has high mechanical, technological, and anti-corrosion properties. It is used to make springs and elastic parts. It is used in chemical engineering, instrumentation, and shipbuilding.
There are also other grades: BrO10-1 and BrOF7-0.2 (for particularly sensitive parts of machines and mechanisms), BrO10-3 (used in instrument engineering), BrB2 (beryllium with high strength and hardness properties), BrX1 (chromium Br with high electrical conductivity for making contacts and electrodes), and heat-resistant cadmium BrKDI.
